We went here thrice, for two couple massages and a mani-pedi for my wife. All three were wonderful. Abraham, Angela, and Alvira were the ones to give the massages, and Linda for the mani-pedi which my wife couldn't stop raving about. Abraham particularly gave me the best massage of my life, and I've had my fair share of those. He focused on kneading out all the knots in my back, which is exactly what I wanted. Angie, the owner, knows how to run this business, and to keep her clientele growing. We would be regulars if they were in NYC!

It has been at least six years since we have been to Puerto Vallarta. In the past we always we always booked time at Metamorphosis. We had no idea if this trip the massages would hold up to our previous experiences. It was incredible and transformative. The services are still top notch. The two different massages I had were both intense and relaxing. Metamorphosis is one of my favorite places in PV. And re-visiting Metamorphosis after so long felt like a homecoming.

I had a great massage at Metamorphosis today.
I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. The building is older and the waiting area is outdated. However, once my massage began all doubts instantly dissolved. The spa rooms are very well kept, and smell incredible. My masseuse was experienced, and did great work. I will definitely return to Metamorphosis!

Well took daughter for her birthday and got mother daughter package!! Was very rushed and massage therapists seemed more professional but in a rush!! Facial, mine the room was cold I'm 6'3 no bolster under knee very uncomfortable! Esthetician in and out of room too many times!! My daughter seemed like it went fine till I looked at her face in am she had a big burn on cheek!! I am an Aesthetician of 26 years! I spent half the day soothing the burn!! Photos also sent them an alert and they said sorry and would offer another facial? Really I only wanted compensation for her facial in this package and they wouldn't even listen or. Care!! If I take small claims court I would probably get full refund!! It's not about that it's about neglect !!

Not worth the very expensive price tag. The office is drab and dark with old furniture and equipment. My aesthetician left my face bruised and bleeding from pinching so hard during extractions. She didn't even talk through most of the steps so I was alarmed to hear the microdermabrasion tool (it sounds like a taser)!
I waited a day to write this since it takes a day to fully see results from a facial. All I got were some red scabs, bruises and possible scars - I hope not!
Very disappointed and will not be returning.

While the building is old and the decor is a bit tired, you want for nothing at this spa. The staff is friendly, they have all of the things you'd expect at a spa (lemon infused water, robes, etc.) plus a few extras, like charging stations.
The facials were fine but definitely go here for massages. Both my husband and I loved our 80 minute massages!

Go here for a massage and ask for Katy S.! She did a FANTASTIC job. Swedish style massage with acupressure. It was both relaxing and rejuvenating at the same time. She helped relieve a lot of the stress and tension I was holding in my back and shoulders. She will customize the massage to take care of the areas you need the most work. I walked in feeling sore and walked out feeling like she work d most of my pain out within an hour.
She will use essential oils if you like and they smell amazing! I will definitely go back and see Katy again.
Perfect location, close to the train and easy to get to.
6 Stars for Katy and Metamorphosis!!!

Since the employee was so kind to point out the very different review format I used for my review of Metamorphisis Spa, let me just explain, the "FORM" of my review was made to mirror the "CONTENT" of the extremely sub-par services I received. I thought that was clear in my last sentence. Here, for the greater good of other potential customers and to more thoroughly express my huge dissatisfaction with Metamorphisis, let me do this another way, again.
Upon arrival, I had a feeling the small door (which you can almost miss) looked familiar. I buzzed, walked in, and when the elevator opened into the spa, I almost could not believe that the universe had put me here again. It must have been to write this yelp! The cosmos ordain it! Back in 2011, my significant other at the time had purchased one of their more pricey facials-a treatment that Left me feeling as if absolutely nothing had been done. But, being here again, I gave it a second shot.
The first thing I saw was a desk with a young male receptionist who often seemed confused, both on the phone when I called and in person. When I asked him questions regarding the microderm treatment over the phone, he had to put me on hold to verify what was included and how long each aspect would be regarding the microdermabrasion facial. He never offered me the package they had for 6 sessions, which could have definitely saved me some money.
The entire place was cold. No tea was served to me or offered, and yes there is a teapot. But, do we want to heat up our own tea at a spa?! And, at that moment, there were NO tea bags stocked in the "relaxation room." I had to leave the horrible excuse at a relaxation room, and ask the gentleman at the desk for tea bags. The relaxation room was bright. Any other spa I have been to, has a dimly lit relaxation room with soothing music (which they did not have and if they did it was not on), aromatherapy, and several options for tea, hot water that is readily available, and cucumber or lemon infused water. I have never had to heat up my own water in a tea kettle at red door spa, at oasis spa, emily spa, skyngenuity, or even my very good dermatologist right on 61st off of Lexington. The room was smaller than some closets. Silent tranquility is impossible since the room's entry/exit way (no real door) is merely covered with a very sheer curtain. There was no water at that moment nor was it offered to me. If your wondering if perhaps it was overwhelmingly busy, which prompted oversights, rest assured it was empty upon my arrival. It was definitely busier by the time I was leaving, though.
I showed my cosmetologist my yelp ticket which had a voucher for a free foot massage. And, she said "Let me see if we have enough time." Kira was her name. After the microdermabrasion facial, a massage therapist came in, and next thing I know she is working my entire body out. So, Kira clearly also has trouble communicating with customers, and pretty much added on a full on massage. And here is the kicker: when I was so courteous and gracious to simply just pay for that unrequested massage, they told me they couldn't honor my yelp foot massage voucher because no one was available for a massage and the yelp vouchers are by appointment only! I almost vomited in my mouth.
The facial: received a quick, downward pulling microdermabrasion, missing several parts, causing patchiness which I have never experienced before. This was my 6 microdermabrasion in my life. Contrary to what Celia seems to say in her response to me, my best friend works at one of the top dermatologist's office in manhattan, and I have thoroughly done my research on microdermabrasion and many other techniques. My skin is so well taken care of from researching both products and skin care places, that no one ever guesses my age, clocking me at many years younger, make up free! I never once felt relaxed and the extractions were subpar. I only have one main focal area for extractions, and its my nose. That was poorly done. The relaxing facial massage was not good either. I felt like she both microderm'ed me and massaged me downard. There was no emphasis on contouring and circulation, nor any gentle pressure points used.
In conclusion, they didn't deserve me to even write them such a decent revised review, because not only did they take my money for subpar services rendered, celia has now tried to insult and embarrass me with her response. Celia, Essay like execution, or bullet points alike: metamorphisis spa did not do it's job TWICE now, and they have only further aggravated my wound with her insensitive response.
Despite Celia describing the beautiful surrounding area in midtown manhattan, an area in which I attended private Highschool, the spa itself is terribly lacking. You can't even enjoy the beauty of the city views. Last word: try if you will, but don't be surprised if you have the same experience. I hope they will do better for the rest of you! Here's to hope.

Our 80 minute massage was literally 3 times the price of some excellent places downtown, and more than double the price of Midtown competitors.
I simply don't understand how they justify the pricing. My husband and I's massages were really just average.
My husband told me he booked a massage for my birthday, but I knew little about the venue. Seriously for this pricing, you can probably go to a high-end hotel spa on 5th avenue.
Yelp steered me wrong here, but hopefully this review can save you the money I'll never see again!
To be fully transparent, the massage cost $320 + taxes + 20% gratuity which amounted to close to $400.

My first review after moving back to New York!!
After Toy Fair & Social Media Week, I seriously needed a deep tissue massage. I was able to book an appointment via email -- Yes, I'm one of those people who prefers to do such things via keyboard instead of phone. Upon arrival, the receptionist took my coat & ushered me into a small waiting room. He then offered me water or a selection of teas. The room is dimly lit & the couch is super comfortable. Check out the thick yellow binder for favorable write-ups of the spa in Time Out New York & other major magazines like Quest. It's also a CitySearch favorite -- See the framed certificate by the elevator.
My therapist, Rose performed my service in a cozy, dimly lit room with piano music playing. She was REALLY great on my shoulders, neck & scalp -- Where I hold all of my stress. Instead of kneading, she favors long, firm strokes along the length of the body. I loved the use of a hot pillow & towels on my back when she was working on other parts of my body. I was so relaxed by the end that I fell asleep for a few minutes afterwards.
