Best Haircut Ever!
I had the best haircut of my life at Hayato New York! Hide, my stylist, did an absolutely amazing job. I showed him a picture and explained what I wanted, and he not only delivered but exceeded my expectations. He gave me expert advice based on my hair type and length, ensuring the final result was perfect. His attention to detail and precision were incredible.
Beyond the haircut itself, the service was outstanding—from the relaxing head and shoulder massage to the overall comfort they provide to their clients. I can’t stop thinking about how excellent the entire experience was. Highly recommend!

Wonderful Japanese Head and Scalp Massage! They do a very detailed consultation and microscopic examination and assessment of your scalp followed by an hour long treatment with incredible massage and products for your scalp. The products were very high quality and the massage and treatment was very relaxing and quite a treat! Highly recommend!

Highly recommend Hide at Hayato! The cut he gave me in November has grown out really well. I like it better today then when he first cut it, and I liked it a lot then.
Also, the shampooing and massage before your haircut here is first rate and such a relaxing treat.
I tend to get the best results at Japanese hair salons where they're used to my very straight, heavy hair. Hayato and Hide get me and I will be back next time I'm in town!

Mina has been cutting my hair at Hayato for 10 years and she is the absolute best! I always walk out with a beautiful cut after a relaxing wash and head massage. I highly recommend Hayato and Mina. Her master stylist title is well deserved!

I have had both the best overall experience and hairstyling at Hayato compared to any other place I have been. Great head and neck massage followed by great attention to detail with my styling resulting in a great hair cut that I get a lot of compliments. A bonus is the wonderful green tea to enjoy while getting styled. Kannon is fantastic!!

The entire experience was relaxing, calm and wonderful! Miho gave me a fabulous hair wash, conditioning, head massage and then upper back massage! All was included with the price of the haircut and styling. I was impressed with it all and will come back! highly recommend.

just had a wash and blow dry-styling here last night and the experience and results abs 5 star.
I recommend this salon for wash and blow dry styling to get your ready for work, for just the usual every 2-3 days/week wash and blow dry styling, and for going out, what they do with your hair will be right for all these 'events'
The wash is very thorough and the styling is on point. it's done so it will def last you up to 3 days (it's done so well and cleanly it will break down nicely every day).
I have long hair long layers and wanted a look that was 'natural styled' so it would look good no matter which way the wind blows it, and they did just that, smooth on top (and underneath), light bends, healthy natural volume and just the right minimal amount of product so it held even after a night of sleeping on it.
if you can get an appt for a wash and blow dry styling here, it's well worth the 45 -60 min, it will def last you up to 3 days (it's done so well and cleanly it will break down nicely every day).

Got a digital perm here and it was really nice because they were very careful to tell me when my balayage bits might have resulted in more damage. It was a long process but less time than highlights.

Between 2011-2024, I got nine digital perms here at Hayato. I get them only once every 1-2 years because for me, this is a bit of a luxury that I need to budget and save for. And because I come so infrequently, I generally have a different stylist each time. Having now come nine different times, I can say without a doubt that every single experience here has been 100% positive. The stylists are each unfailingly experienced and skilled, and I have left each time with a lovely loose perm that appears like soft voluminous waves that last for months. They take their time to get the haircut right, and to make sure they know exactly what I want. During the times when we are just waiting for the perms to set, they remain close by and check on me often. They use good products, and my hair never feels dry. I absolutely recommend this place.

I booked a head spa appointment with Hiroko and it was absolutely heavenly! She is so sweet and attentive, and the scalp massage/treatment was one of the best I've had. My hair definitely looks and feels healthier and cleaner as well. Definitely recommend and will be back!

I have come to Hayato twice -- once for a digital perm and once for a balayage. Both times I had Hide as my stylist.
I can't recommend Hide enough. He is careful, detail oriented, and very gentle with my hair. Both times I got my treatments, I was warned by friends that the process would damage my hair. However, when Hide does these treatments, I feel almost no difference in the strength and quality of my hair afterwards. It's clear that he's extremely experienced, and I really appreciate that he will work with you to find a hairstyle or color that looks great on you. My favorite part of each experience is the scalp massage he gives -- it's honestly more relaxing than massages I've gotten from professional masseuses.
The environment at Hayato is really soothing. There's soft jazz playing in the background, and everybody talks in gentle, quiet voices. It's a far cry from the shouting and gossip I'm used to hearing at other salons.
While Hayato may be more expensive than some other salons in the city, you get what you pay for, and what you're paying for at Hayato is a relaxing environment, knowledgeable stylists, and treatments that look great while keeping your hair healthy. I will keep coming back to Hayato as long as I'm in NYC :)

They have been around for a while, and have consistently provided exceptional service. Every single staff member here pays close attention to detail. They write your name down with a customized card each time you visit I highly recommend buying the supplemental products on the shelf, like Milbon. I was recommended this by my stylist and I have been using the brand ever since. The digital perm service is great, it didn't damage my hair and took less time than expected. They will also bring you water or tea as you wait. The interior is nicely decorated, with a bit of a gothic flare.

My stylist's name is Hide. He is very skillful and knowledgeable. Every time I request something new he never disappointed me.
They give you amazing shampoo and a shoulder massage they provide for clients.

I can’t thank Miho enough! She is amazing at coloring and styling! She fixed my hair from the last fading blue highlights that I had and added a new color that I love while keeping my hair healthy. I really appreciate her patience with my long hair, explanation throughout each step of the way, and suggestions to obtain the best results possible. Thanks to the staff as well for being welcoming and helpful. I’m looking forward to my next visit!

I've been having the same people cut my hair for 10+ years now, but decided it was time for a change and came to Hayato for something new. It was a great choice! The service was fantastic, and I got a great scalp massage while I was at the wash bowl. I also really liked that they put a little eye mask on you while you have your hair washed, so you can skip the awkward eye contact and conversation while someone is washing your hair (or risk falling asleep by closing your eyed).
I went with Hide for this appointment and he did not disappoint! He asked me what I wanted, and I told him that I actually wasn't sure and was looking for something shorter in a new style that he thought would be flattering. I was a little worried with letting Hide take the wheel, but in the end I think this is the most satisfied I've been with a haircut in a while (though it's certainly at a completely different price range than all the others I've had). Will probably be back while I'm in NYC :)

I am very happy with my haircut and the whole experience with this salon. My stylist Hide (He-de) was very professional and kind. He understood what I was looking for and most importantly he completely transformed my dull, over grown hair and gave me a total hair makeover! My only regret was that I did not take a before photo (my hair transformation would have looked like Princess diaries before & after photo- if you know what i mean )
Booking process was simple and easy - I gave them a call and asked for the earliest availability and was able to see a stylist within 2 days. Salon location is great, atmosphere and interior is clean and simple.
