First let me say that I walked-in off the street after being rudely turned-away at another salon (see my review of that joint - Balayage Bliss - a couple of blocks up), so I was in a weird head, but thank goodness for David and his friendly, charming staff for welcoming this old punk chick in a wheelchair and turning my bad day into a wonderful one!
These days, as a disabled senior, I like to keep my hair fuss down to a buzzcut, but had gone way too long without a cut, so trust me, I was a hot-headed-mess. David the owner jumped right in giving me the perfect cut (and did it dry too, which few people do well!) and I left looking and feeling terrific!
The salon is spotless and has a great upscale, but cool, arty vibe helped by the warmest staff imaginable who were busy with other customers, but not too busy to greet me as I rolled by them to the station where David did his magic! LOVE!!
I am recommending this place to EVERYONE and would give it more YELP stars if I could! THANKS D'SHAL - I'LL BE BACK SOON!!

Got a color and cut with Jenise! Could not recommend more! She really takes her time with doing your hair and you can tell how much she enjoys her job and she's clearly really good at it!! If you want someone good with color and cutting AND who is attentive with your hair and how you feel about your hair, Jenise is the answer.

I had an incredible experience at D'Shal Salon! David is the best! I will never let anyone else cut or dye my hair ever again! He helped me finalize my ideas and find what would suit me best. I have had many traumatic hair experiences in the past and was scared to try somewhere new but my experience at D'Shal was definitely worthwhile! I am so happy with my hair and will be returning in the future!

David is the absolute besttt when it comes to hair color or haircut. I have been trying to find a decent hair stylist in NYC since many years. Found David at some other saloon few years ago but then he left that place and finally found him years later at his own place. He has not changed a bit. He always listens to you carefully and will absolutely do what you envision for yourself. I totally trust him especially with hair color. He would always give me exactly what i explain him. He cuts the best bangs and layers even though I have been facing a lot of hair thinning in past few years and it is a challenge when it comes to cutting my bangs lol. He never pushes un-necessary services on you and is just absolutely the nicest!!! Will not look for another hair stylist ever!! Totally recommend it to all looking for one! Worth every penny and love the fact that their prices are already very reasonable!

I was a bit disappointed by my experience here. I booked a haircut with Classpass for 15 credits, which comes out to be about $30. I think the original price is $55. Diana gave me my haircut but didn't dry my hair all the way. I understand that I didn't book a blowdry, but at other salons they still dry your hair. You wouldn't let a customer out the door with wet hair. I asked if I could dry it myself and she wouldn't let me. I now have to go home to finish drying my hair.

I just had an amazing experience at D'Shal Salon. Not only are the people there super cool, they're very skilled at what they do. David, the owner, transformed my hair from box dye disaster to a natural looking, dimensional look that left me sad to leave because I knew I wouldn't have to go back for a while. I got a color correction and balayage. Was shocked at the results. Highly recommend.
