So sad that this place closed. Still trying to find a replacement. The new restaurant that took over the location is not as good. No place in Dallas is as good.
If the owners reopened in another location, please let me know where.

Out of towners looking for great Mexican food and found it here at Santos!! We didn't want tex-mex or some national chain restaurant. This was authentic, true Mexican food. Perhaps most impressive was the service. The manager, busboys and waiters were all friendly and accommodating.
The restaurant was also clean and the food was reasonably priced. If we lived in Dallas I'm sure we would make this one of our go to restaurants.

This is, by far, the best hidden gem in Dallas. The food is always fresh, and the swirl margaritas are 10 out of 10! They are very strong and delicious. The food is prepared fresh, and Chef Blanca usually makes the rounds to the patrons, which gives it a nice touch to see such personalization to each meal.
The dress code is very easy going. I've seen diners wear anything from shorts/t-shirts to full suit and tie.
This place is excellent!

The ambience is somewhat confusing as the place does not have that Mexican restaurant ambience to it. It looks more like a French bistro.
The white queso is almost as good as Aparicio's and could be if guacamole or meat is introduced. $7 a bowl just might be a little much.
The mom must be off tonight otherwise our meal would have been complete. The shredded cheese in my wife's tacos was dry that when bent would split in half. She immediately pointed it out as she was adding the condiments. She said the taste was so-so and wasn't impressed. My daughter and I split an order of beef fajitas. Tasted just how it should. The downside to our order was the add-on was missing retried beans which we had to order on the side ($2).
Altogether it wasn't really that bad.. just not too keen about returning soon.

Had the Calabaza con Pollo, it was excellent! My stepbrother had the Chicken Mole, enjoyed that quite a bit; my stepfather had a specialty item, off the menu, a tilapia with crab sauce and grilled shrimp? Loved it.
Our waiter was friendly, and the other were workers were great at helping out their fellow coworkers. Never ran out of water, dirty plates were quickly cleared, fresh chips/salsa, etcetc.
Not sure the lack of crowd at 7PM was a good thing or a bad thing. (Not that I didn't mind being able to have a party of six sat immediately.) The food was awesome, so I'm doubting that; the waitstaff and employees were friendly and mainly on top of things. Just needs more people coming I think!!
Definitely would recommend this place! :)

It's called Santos now...not sure why. Great 5 dollar mojitos & ritas during happy hour. Very confused place. It has an identity crisis. Mexican food with white tablecloth & red napkins...how tacky. The patio is nice, but the tex mex menu they gave us alongside the regular menu was what we ordered from since we wanted a snack. The cucumber guacomle was very good, but they gave you so little of it for 8 dollars I was expecting a lot more. To substitute a taco for an enhilada cost three extra dolalrs so I payed 12 dollars for a few tacos, the beef inside those tacos was good but the shells and everything else felt cheap. The chips were stale and bagged it seemed. The regular menu was overpriced and not even able to be considered for a snack, which is what we were there for. Just meh and overpriced. Nice patio and good drinks though.

I give this restaurant 5 stars because the food is great and the staff is wonderful.
We had an event for 30 people in their private back room with a limited menu which I selected. No one had to wait for their orders and my San Antonio group thought their guacamole and enchiladas were the best they had ever had which is saying a lot. If are looking for Tex-Mex then go buy the cheap stuff, but if you want authentic chicken mole or spinach enchiladas with fresh spinach( they use only fresh ingredients) you will enjoy a great meal .Make a special request from the Charro beans instead of the retried. In my opinion, if you stick to the Originales de Casablanca and Nuestras Enchiladas you will not be disappointed.

Nando's is a great new upscale Mexican restaurant right at Royal and the Tollroad. It's in a nice secluded location which I am sure is hurting business, but adds to the pleasant atmosphere.
The inside is nice; they are clearly aiming for an upscale crowd with the decor and prices.
All in all the food was fantastic, and I really like their take on fajitas. They offer 5 or 6 different styles.
The menu overall is similar to Gloria's, Fernando's, Mi Cocina, etc. I wish everything were priced a few bucks cheaper, as I fear the hidden location plus high prices will shutter Nando's before it's able to become a staple, like so many of the restaurants it's taking after.
In the end, the drinks were great (I got a top shelf marg and they asked me what type of tequila I wanted), the food was great, the location is very relaxed, and the staff was great.
I hope it works out - more people should give Nando's a shot.

Beautiful place! Next to the fire station and behind Subway sandwiches. Awesome patio and cool decor inside. Amazing white queso and terrific margaritas. Lots of seafood. We had shrimp tamales wrapped in banana leaves. Weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas for $10.50?!?! What!? We will definitely be back this weekend. Was perfect, just hope it doesn't get too crowded.
