Shanna and team are the best! I've been seeing Shanna for the past five years and she does an incredible job every time I see her. I have a huge mane of thick blonde hair and she successfully tames it every time. The salon is so cute too and the location is super convenient. It's such a challenge to find the right salon, but Monarch is the best!

I had an appointment in advance of a very special evening event. I got to the appointment about 15 minutes early, only for the stylist to let me know that they were running at least 30 minutes late. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find an alternative salon for the event. I had been super excited to try out the salon given reviews, but given the experience and not having received any notice that they were running late, I will have to look around for another salon.

I am so happy I found this salon & Ally. I used to drive all the way to San Carlos from SF and now I don’t have to! Ally listened to what I wanted done, she was patient, kind and gave me all the layers I wanted. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend Ally & the salon.

Brooke is amazing, I love this little La Jolla gem! Tucked away in a cute walkway with other shops, the studio is in a great location. The appointment booking was smooth online and everything was timely. I got a color/cut, which turned out perfect. There is a deli across the way, so I snuck over for a bite to eat while my color was setting. I will be back for future appointments.

Alyssa did magic on my hair. I needed a correction after some pretty terrible highlights and she was amazing with walking me through her process, checking in with me and making sure my hair turned out how I wanted. Highly recommend her!

During my appointment, Shanna went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout the process. Her professionalism and friendly demeanor instantly put me at ease.
Most importantly, I am absolutely thrilled with the haircut I received from Shanna. She clearly has a talent for hair styling, and I am now completely obsessed with my new look.

Brooke is a magician! I've been going to her for over two years and I waffle between knowing exactly what I want done and completely relying on her to do what she thinks is best--either way she goes above and beyond my expectations. As a blond, you know your hair looks good when all your blond friends ask where you get it done (two have even switched to her).
She's so knowledgeable and stays up to date with the latest trends. I highly recommend following the salon and her (icbeauuty) on instagram for inspo pics. On top of it all, she's so personable and fun to be around!
The salon itself is adorable and in such a cute area. There's so much to do before and after your appointment if you want to make a day of it. Could not recommend Brooke and Monarch enough!

I have been wanting to get my hair done to make it look more blended and lived in, while still keeping the blonde and I was able to find Brooke!
She did such an amazing job on the color and cut, while keeping my hair healthy. Actually, my hair looks healthier now! Brooke was also so nice and talked through the expectations really well.
The salon itself was cute; it was a smaller space but I felt comfortable and the area is also really nice.
I am so happy I was able to find such an amazing place and stylist, I will definitely be back.

I've been seeing Shanna for my hair for like 5 or 6 years now and I am always so thrilled with how my hair turns out. She is always consistent and kind and my cut and color are always STUNNING after she's done with me. I always walk out feeling more like myself than I had for weeks, she really understands what I like. Love that she came back from San Diego!

Came to Monarch Salon on recommendation from a friend and had the pleasure of Brooke doing my hair. This salon is tucked away in a cute little corridor in the heart of La Jolla. It's bright and clean and a perfect little space for some peaceful self care.
Brooke was friendly, on time and asked great questions to make sure I got the style I really wanted. She is easy to talk with and you can tell she really loves giving clients a great finished product. I haven't felt this good about my hair since pre-Covid. Thanks Brooke!

Shanna is incredible + a blonding genius! I came to her with some serious trust issues - having my hair so damaged from a previous salon (which had GREAT reviews), and a couple years of having to grow it back to health.
My hair is naturally dark and it takes some serious skill to know how to lift it to blonde, while maintaining it's health. Shanna did just that. Years later she has transformed my short damaged hair, to long ashy locks. Did I mention she's also just an amazing person? Always so much fun sitting in her chair!
