If I could give a zero I would. This place was recomened to me but I see it has serious issues.
First it appeared as a "single" person I was to wait extra. I sawany tables with more than just "me" get theit order in. Then I noticed the "hispanic" bus boy and "greater" give me more attention then the "caucasion" servers. There are zero persons of color serving and it was the worst service I have ever recieved! ouch!!! Sat forever to get my order in and twce given the WRONG ORDER. Sat forever to be even noticed. I had to speak up for myself or would never be noticed. On my break from local school, but made to feel like an "OUTSIDER". Sat long enough to hear the "Trump Lovers" in the cafe to realize my hispanic features are my issues.
This cafe may be good but it caters to its "rich, white clients". Can't look away from the TRUTH I witnessed. Yikes this still exists! Really?!?!?

Came here for lunch with a groupon and was looking forward to trying this place, because of the awesome yelp reviews! It was pretty easy to find street parking on a Sat around noon. I liked the vibe of the place, it was very laid back. Service was a bit slow, and our server confused my order but she fixed it and kept checking on us, and even gave us to go cups for our iced tea-which was super great cause we were about to head to SB so it was nice to sip on the iced tea on the ride.
Food was mediocre. I had the salmon burger, which was very dry. It had chunks of salmon mixed with bread crumbs and it was falling apart so it was a little difficult to eat. The rosemary fries were really good! BF got the steak salad, meat was well seasoned but kind of dry and overall, it was not memorable.
I don't see us coming back here but it was good to check out, and an especially good deal with a groupon.

How can you miss this place going south on Highland passing Sunset...It's on the corner! The inside is just as welcoming as the outside and the waiters know how to treat customers. It may get a little crowded during the day but that's okay because the noise level is moderate.
I enjoy the outside patio because it blocks the sunlight and you're still able to see the street traffic. Don't worry, your waiter won't forget about you.
Side note: The owner of the corner also owns the lounge next door, hence the name 'Next Door Lounge'. I've heard great things about it. If it's the same service, with a 1920's speakeasy feel, then I can't wait to try it out!

The Service: WONDERFUL, love our server, super sweet & attentive. Service is quick. Good customer service!
The Food:
Almond French Toast - French toast dipped in the fresh egg battered rolled in toasted almonds & topped with powder sugar and fresh strawberry. HUGE pieces of toast!!! Totally worth the money.
Big Boy Omelet - Pork sausage, bacon, ham, peppers, roasted tomato, onion & pepper jack cheese and topped with fresh sliced avocado. With toast & potato on the side. Lot of ingredients in this omelet... no wonder they called it "Big Boy Omelet"!!
The Parking: Street metered parking

Came here for a lunch meeting and had a great time! The Hollywood Corner is a very nondescript restaurant located in Hollywood. They serve primarily breakfast food, but have a nice lunch assortment of items. The place has bar stools, booths and tables. servers are super friendly and fast.
For appetizers, we ordered the caprise baguettes. It was toasted French Baguettes topped with pesto, topped with fresh sliced tomatoes, mozz cheese, fresh basil, and drizzled with a thick vinegarette. The pesto was a new twist for me, and it totally brought the dish to a higher level! YUM! GET IT! Grade: B+
I ordered the arugula salad. This dish was OUTSTANDING! It was baby arugula tossed in a honey vinegarette, with dried cranberries, tomatoes, toasted almonds, and served with several slices of avocado. The dressing was a bit on the sweet side, but it complimented the bitterness of the arugula. I have to admit that this was one of the better arugula salads that I've ever had before! GET IT! Grade: A-
Food Grade: B+
Service Grade: B+

Overall Impression Grade: B+

The simplest of things or places most of the time makes the biggest impact.
The Hollywood Corner is an unsuspecting cafe located at the kitty corner of Lexington & Highland Avenue, The nice big windows gives the place a sense of openness yet still kept the casual diner feel that I always enjoy.
Our very cheerful server Nadia was such a delight, it really makes a difference when a person enjoys what she does, her upbeat attitude really made me feel comfortable and feel settled as I browsed through the menu after an order of Cappuccino.
Before dinner, my friend opted to use the Hollywood Corner yelp check-in promotion which for tonight was THE BROWNIE!...It was a delicious pre-dinner dessert! (Ha ha) A good sized square of moist, nutty and chocolatey "yumminess" topped with dollops of whipped cream served on a chocolate drizzled plate with a generous dusting of confectionaire sugar. Presentation and deliciousness - a perfect combination and a great start! My Cappuccino is not to be outdone either, the frothy cup of an almost intoxicating aroma of espresso was perfectly balanced with the amount of milk and froth, served on a beautiful white cup, I truly enjoyed every sip and frothy mustache (*wink) from this heaven in a cup.
After devouring half of the "Nirvana brownie" (it's that good) We asked Nadia for a recommendation for a good sandwich - who would be better to ask for the customer's favorite but the person who takes the orders everyday right? Since my friend and I are both "carnivores" we took her advice and ordered the "Chicken", I ordered mine on Ciabatta with a side of mixed sweet potato and regular fries with a bbq dressing, like a kid in a candy store I couldn't help but smile in glee as I see this platter full of goodness landing on the table, presented in such an appetizing way, the "Chicken" in Ciabatta looks too good to eat (*grin) surrounded by a vibrant colorful mishmash of regular and sweet potato fries accentuated by a delicately prepped plump flower shaped strawberry - this plate I can only describe as an edible artwork to put it mildly...
...unfortunately this beautiful work of art needed to be devoured to serve its glorious purpose and I have to say, It tasted as good as it looked a few minutes ago :) The Ciabatta tasted fresh with a nice texture and chewiness just the way I like, the chicken was grilled to perfection, it was well seasoned and juicy, the turkey bacon, roasted apples and grilled onions in the sandwich compliments the grilled chicken really well, the cheese and buttermilk dressing gave this sandwich a nice hint of saltiness and a tiny hint of tart, all together they blended harmoniously to make this sandwich truly spectacular.
Just an FYI, It seems the Hollywood Corner does not skimp on portions size, so better come hungry or split a sandwich so that you can make room for dessert & coffee to top off an already amazing serving of "heaven on a plate"
If you would like to browse their menu, visit them online at: www.callthecorner.com
Enjoy!

I was like, hey, where's the gawdamn chili? Then I realized I'm an idiot and actually SAID Bistro Burger instead of chili burger which is what I actually wanted....this was confirmed by the wife and my niece.... Luckily we were all starving since I made them walk LIKE AN HOUR (according to the wife) in the HOT SUN to get to this place.....
It's only like a half mile from the El Capitan on Hollywood Blvd! It was more like a pleasant stroll.
Anywho.....the burger was great

FREE CHILI! So of course I made a mess and threw that chili in my burger and on my fries and in my mouth...
I felt kinda guilty being rewarded for my idiocy but....
Hey! why not!?
Who in their right mind would refuse free homemade chili?
Only a terrorist, that's who.

From the moment I stepped in Hollywood Corner (no, it's not a strip club), I knew I would be well taken care of. They must have read me like newspaper headline, "Desperately Seeking Outlet," because I was immediately directed to a large booth with access to juicy power. Ahh, this place gets me.
The three gentlemen that helped me over the course of my 6 hour play date with my laptop were charming, courteous, helpful and all around good guys. They made it seem as if they were there to serve me, and me only, and I like that kind of service!
I ordered an iced soy vanilla latte (shocker!) to hold me over until I was ready to chow down on their lunch menu later in the day. It was the most supercalifragilisticexpialidocious non-alcoholic beverage I have ever sipped on. I mean, this thing was the most flavorful, creamy drink ever. Like a candy cloud in my mouth! I tried not to go to town on it so that I could savor every last slurpy. It really was the latte of my dreams. Just writing about it puts a grinny grin on my chinny chin.
The salad (chicken, spring greens - meh, pine nuts, and some other things) was delicious as well and really did the afternoon trick, but man oh man, was that latte the breakout star of this caffeine scene!

The Corner is an attractive, naturally-lit spot on Highland. It's a fun place to relax, and with their wine selection, they can't lose.
Met with friends for a light lunch. It wasn't crowded: a diner was tapping away on a notebook, and a Tony Blair lookalike sat at a table not far from us. I took a risk and got their mango ginger chicken wings ($8.95). Its sauce was tangy and sweet and the wings were moist enough for me to easily bite into. A tall glass of iced tea was perfect, and the meal didn't break the bank, especially for Hollywood.
The hostesses and servers were pleasant, and service was quick. Our drinks were refilled regularly without us noticing - ninja-like - and when we were given an extra iced tea by accident, instead of taking it back, they gave it to us gratis.
I'll be back for a glass of wine, and maybe a pastrami sandwich.

Wow! I just had very unique experience. It was really cool. A round on the house, directly from the Owner.
Although, I'm not from the neighborhood, this will be my new "neighborhood spot". Food was amazing and the ambiance was super relaxing, entailing a cool crowd and that chill Hollywood feel Staff were very attentive! Glad I chose to spend my Saturday afternoon here
