Tina has been straightening my hair for 5+ years. I absolutely love her work AND she's super responsive and professional when it comes to scheduling, answering inquiries, etc. Highly recommend!

I have been coming to Tina twice a year since 2017 for Japanese hair straightening and it has been fantastic every time. Not once has my hair been damaged in any way and always comes out sleek and shiny. I absolutely adore Tina, she is so friendly and sweet to talk to.

If you're looking for Japanese Hair Straightening, Tina is the one for you! Before coming in for my consultation, I've read many reviews talking about how Tina truly looks out for the best for her clients. Based on my experience with her, that is 100% true. Tina is impeccable and what she does. It's been about a month since I've done the treatment, and it truly has been LIFE CHANGING. Though the process can take a solid 6 hours, that time alone is worth it for how much time I save with my hair. It genuinely feels so nice and convenient being able to air dry my hair, not worry about humidity, and not rely too much on heat.

Tina has completely transformed my hair in ways that I did not think were possible. I am of Dominican ethnicity and needed help with managing my hair. I trusted Tina completely and I could not be happier with the results. My hair looks better and better every day, it has incredible shine and it is so soft manageable. I can now wash my hair and let it air dry and it looks as if I received a personal blowout. My hair does not get frizzy in the rain or after a workout. I can not be happier with the results, this will save me so much time and heat damage.
Oh and did i mention she did not damage my hair in the process? :) So happy!

Update: just went in for a touch up treatment 8 months after my first one! This process takes just as much time (about 6 hours) and is the same price. It is worth it! I spent all summer swimming in Barton Creek and it is seriously a luxury to have your hair dry and be manageable without any work. I hardly ever use heat, and it feels the healthiest and shiniest it has been in years. Thanks Tina!

Want to start off by saying Tina is the best and I could not have asked for a better experience.
My hair is really frizzy and gets super puffy when it's humid out- even when styled. After researching the Japanese hair treatment I decided to give it a go and came across Tina Q. once I meet her I knew I liked her, she is so sweet and so much fun to be around. During both my assessment and procedure she made me feel at ease. Although the procedure was long, it went by so fast and was super relaxing and once finished, my hair was so soft, straight and defrizzed and even after taking a shower my hair is still AMAZING. my only regret is not doing it sooner! Thanks so much Tina!!! Want to start off by saying Tina is the best and I could not have asked for a better experience.

This is a review from my wife on my account.
I hesitated to write this at first, but it got to the point where I was really pressed on my heart to do so.
I wanted to get a Japanese straightening, and I researched a lot of places, and I came across Tina Q. Salon.
She had some good reviews and experience in doing this treatment so I called her, and I got set up for an assessment of my hair. It was $100 upfront that later is subtracted from the total cost. I've visited her salon on my appointment day, and it was very nice. Tina was with a client when I came in, and she spent less than a minute to assess my hair, and then gave me papers to sign and asked for the $100 for the deposit. I thought the assessment was too quick, but thought she knows best because of the experience she states she has. I came to my appointment, and she takes a picture of my hair before and after it is done. I do appreciate the time she spent which was a lot, and I do not take that away from her. When I got out of the salon my hair looked, and felt nice. It was very straight, and
I did all the instructions that come with this treatment as she had explained to me.
However, as the days progressed I noticed when brushing my hair there was a bunch of breakage which you can see in the pictures in my sink and on the floor. This has not stopped and it breaks my heart to see my hair in this state. It has never felt or looked this way before. I contacted her and she got back with me with information that the bottom of my hair was not strong enough or healthy enough to take the chemicals. I would have hoped she would have noticed this in her assessment, but as stated above she was busy with another client and rushed it when I initially came in.
She felt very bad and offered me a bottle of repair conditioner of some sort, but that was all.
This treatment was over $1000
including the tip, and she did say it could be worse, and she has seen worst damage however this does not make me feel any better. I went to my regular stylist and she says it was damaged by her and I will need 4-5 Keratin treatments and a major cut.
So sad as I have long hair, and now because of the damage I probably need to cut 10in.
So shocking.
In conclusion:
#1 she did not assess my hair correctly and was very quick because she was with another client ( note: I had an appointment on the books for this. It was not just a walk in.)
#2 she did not offer any treatments to help me, and yes she is not obligated to, but it would have been a very nice gesture of a couple of keratin treatments or something other then giving me a $20 plus dollar bottle of some product.
#3 lesson learned. If you go to Tina Q. please make sure she gives you a proper assessment of your hair and gives you her time. You are paying $100 at least 15 mins please and not seconds. Also please talk with your salon stylist and get their assessment then make a decision.
Tina Q. is very nice and she is good at what she does however with me she dropped the ball, and I am just sad my hair has to be dramatically cut. However, hair grows back, and I look forward to the day I don't see what you see in my pictures.

Tina is basically a hair magician! I have very thick, frizzy course hair and have done everything from Brazilian blowouts and keratin treatments to Dominican blowouts. On average my hair takes 2 hours to flat iron which I didn't think was bad considering I only do it once a week. All of the services above ranged from $200-$600. Keep in mind my hair is long so I expect to pay more however the services above only lasted 2-3 months tops.
I spoke with Tina after hearing she is the best of the best when it comes to hair straightening especially Japanese straighteners. I appreciated the fact that she was very adamant on wanting to do a hair consultation and see my natural texture. I mean she takes her job very seriously and wants the best results and I could tell within the first 10 mins she was legit. She has you fill out a questionnaire regarding your hair, texture and overall health as hormones and many other things can take a natural toll on hair growth and texture. She even filed my info and a picture of my hair away. So I paid the $100 deposit and scheduled my appointment for the first opening which was 2 months later.
I am currently 2weeks post appointment and I couldn't be more pleased. I just washed my hair this afternoon and let it air dry. For the first time ever I can shower at the gym and walk out with wet hair and not worry about looking like a chia pet!! I can swim and layout and not have a fro 30 mins later and if I want it to be shiny then I quickly run a flat iron over it...I did just that this evening and in 12 mins and 52 seconds ( I know this because I timed it as it usually takes about 2hours) my hair looked like it belonged on a Pantene Pro V commercial.
You get what you pay for!! Tina is the best and genuinely cares about her clients as well as their hair and results. I will forever be a client an I plan to send my friends and family to her as well

I have done keratin so many times before that I decided to give Japanese straightening a try. I cannot emphasize the improvement that I am noticing just within a day of the straightening treatment.
Thanks to the treatment:
1. My scalp is no longer itchy
2. The hair is shinier and looks much longer than with Keratin
3. I have to leave it on for three days but it does not smell like Keratin
4. It is less chemically heavy as my hair feels silky as opposed to heavy
5. My eyes were not once irritated as I was getting the treatment or right now as I am waiting until I can wash it again. Today it is raining in Austin and humid and it is not affecting the hair.
Now as far as Tina, she is super kind, professional and to the point. She loves getting to know her customers and really wants to understand you and your life style so that she can help you with what is best for your hair. She upkeeps with you via text to hold you accountable to make sure you are taking care of your hair properly and also to remind you of her appointment. Her salon is beautiful in a safe location and she is very attentive to detail. I had to book my appointment 3 months in advance and place a deposit (about 15 percent of the cost) but it was great to help me budget for the actual appointment.
I will be coming back next year to update my roots. Highly recommend her :-)
