Was in town for a wedding and Tasha saved me! Let's just say I had a serious hair emergency and she was able to fit me in last min before a wedding and couldn't have been niceer about it!
As we all know, going somewhere new to get your hair done can be a stressful expereience. I knew I was in good hands as soon as I walked in the door. Thanks a million to Tasha for taking such great care of me in my time of need :)

Tasha came highly recommended to me when I reached out to the Yelp community in search of a salon that could offer me more alternative, funky hair styles. I love bright colors, and a skilled, artistic stylist I can trust to do her thing. This was an excellent decision. Tasha made me feel right at home, we had some laughs, despite a long time time in the hair chair it was easy to feel comfortable, and she just did a beautiful job on my hair. I get compliments all the time on it lately - so, I'll be back! :) Thank you Tasha!
I got a cut, style, and Black, Pink, and Purple dye for a very reasonable price, and she works fast, I was out of there in no time considering what was done.
Also, EXTRA points for allowing me to schedule my appointment time, and hair services online, as I find it annoying to make time during the day for phone calls lol!

I have rad hair still! Usually when I get it cut, the shape fades just days after getting it cut. Not this time. I am still getting compliments 4 weeks out! Tasha was very patient with me. I was late, talked the ENTIRE time due to my massive pregaming of redbull, and due to being late, forgot everything I needed. I can say it was the worst impression I could give and Tasha didn't even bat an eye.
Bottom line: it didn't cost anymore than the other "edgy" salons I have tried.
I'm returning to Tasha for life, I can't say that about the other salons...
She was funny, and relatable, and very approachable!
I can't wait to give her my money again!

I went in to get my bangs trimmed... Bettie bangs mind you and was given to tany. I'm no hair stylist but she
1.dry cut my bangs
2.flat ironed them first
3. Left me with a bowl hair cut.. Bangs weren't angled at all and straight across.
I told her my style and I have Bettie/retro bangs or what have you. That is not what I ended up with.
She saw how upset I was and first told me free of charge and kept repeating "sorry about that" over and over. I finally gave her a picture before she left me close to no bangs and then got a "oh" and she sort of made them better and I just said "that will do" so I could get the hell out of there and then She charged me $5, wtf.
I've been wants to come here
For years and try it out because I've heard great things but that was a one time deal.

Hi Tany! All I have to say is you are AMAZING! I love the service I get from you. You had me sold the first time I went to get my haircut. I recently got my hair done last week and I have been getting non stop compliments about my hair! Thank you for listening to my requests and being so nice. I will definitely be going back here over and over again. Also, thank you for keeping my daughter entertained with the Hello Kitty coloring book and crayons!

HORRIBLE CUT.
I had the same experience here that Jan-Nicole L. had...WITH the same person [Tany Ou]. I got a same day appointment and walked in to a desolate and dirty shop. Tany was playing on her laptop and greeted me kind of oddly...she seemed sluggish. With the way the shop looked, she could have definitely been tidying up instead of sitting there. She also did NOT look "put together" well at all, herself. I should have taken notice, but after walking in the door with all attention on me...what was I to say?! Long story short...I came out with yellow highlights on my dark brown hair and a haircut that made my normally thick and long hair look very thinned out and stringy. It was the WORST cut I have ever had and the same bad coloring that many novice colorists make on dark hair [not enough toner is what I have been told]. I went to Melinda Wellman [see my other review] who fixed it for me. I felt bad [as I normally do] saying anything to Tany, since she was nice enough to me. I just left after paying full price and very unhappy!! STAY FAR AWAY!!!!

This salon is barely visible to the naked eye, but it's directly across the street from the 76 gas station on La Mesa Blvd. So being knowledgeable of this salon's existence is mostly word of mouth.

Schedule an appt during the week, I hear it can get busy during the weekends
20% off if you're a first time customer -$30 after the 20%
I came in as a walk-in on a Wednesday afternoon and Tany was able to start on me right away. She was great at listening to what I wanted and in addition to my cut, washed, gave me side bangs, and beautifully styled my hair for the rest of the day with no additional cost. She also mentioned if I wanted a quick trim on my bangs to come in and she'll fix them up for free! I was really happy with the outcome of my cut returning for a fix wasn't even necessary.
Since I've been, only two stylists work there, Tany and the owner.
Salon Styletto isn't just for the ladies though, Tany cuts guys' hair too!

I had a great experience at Styletto's today. I was looking for a new salon because my sister-in-law used to cut my hair but moved away. I didn't want to pay too much, since I'm used to getting it all done for free ;)
I made a call for an appointment the day of. I was greeted at the door by my stylist, Brittany. She was very friendly and very professional. She asked me what I wanted and gave me exactly what I asked for.
My cut is fabulous, the color looks great and she offered to fix anything if I went home and washed it a few times and found it wasn't what I wanted.
The best thing was that Brittany did an AWESOME job washing my hair. I know it sounds funny but you all know how it feel so good to have someone else wash your hair. Well, it was like a mini scalp massage!
I will definitely be going back. The prices are affordable, the salon was really clean and the staff was really nice.

Salon Styletto has just opened a new salon ... their first official one that is...
It's so amazing because:
It feels really cozy, like the vibe is like you are hanging out in your friend's livingroom BUT it still looks like a nice little salon.
everyone that works there is so nice, friendly, real, and down to earth, while still able to give you amazing "hip" haircuts and such.
haircuts and color are way way cheaper here than any other "hip" salon ... they are like nice neighborhood salon meets "urban" salon ....
you have to go try it :)
oh also right now they have a two for one special so if you bring a friend, it's like buy one get one free..... tell them i sent you and this could possibly extend the special for longer... hopefully. lol

I've seen her work some damn wonders and Tasha's the only person in San Diego I would trust with my mane!
Edited 3/7/09: "Amber B."'s review is so ridiculous and quite honestly, pisses me off. Not only was it an unfair review, giving false information but completely non-representational of Salon Styletto. Tasha would never let a "stylist" (who, by the way, is not a stylist, but instead Tasha's younger sister just chillin, working on a school project) do hair on a waiting bench. Tasha is very professional and passionate about her work and there are a lot of people who are quick to defend this.
~If this is hip~, Amber can go to Supercuts.
